It’s no surprise that The Young and the Restless star Eric Braeden is known for being bold and audacious.
He doesn’t shy away from taking a stand for others. In a similar fashion,
he’s once again in the spotlight, this time for defending Alec Baldwin.
The latter faces trial for involuntary manslaughter following the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
The tragic mishap occurred on the set of the Western “Rust.” So, how did Braeden voice his outrage? Check it out below.
Eric- Alec Shouldn’t Be Held Responsible for ‘Rust’ Incident!
The Young and the Restless icon has taken to social media to support Alec. He began by saying, “I’m actually outraged that it has come to this.” Moreover, Victor’s portrayer explained that he’s been an actor since 1962 and has been on more sets with guns. Unsurprisingly, there were many “bad guy” guest-starring roles that required him to use more guns.
“So, I know damn well that as actors, we are not responsible for whether the damn gun is loaded or not.” Typically, the prop person comes to the actors; that’s how it has been for him for over sixty years. Eric added, “The assistant director is also present when the actor is shown that the gun is unloaded.” Hence, he believes holding Baldwin responsible is “unrealistic and totally unfair.”
The CBS soap icon can tell because he has done so many action shows, like The Rat Patrol and others. “So only an actor who’s really used to being in action moments in films would even be thinking about it.” Braeden thinks Baldwin is blameless in the tragedy. According to him, it’s incumbent upon the AD and the property person to ensure the actor doesn’t get the loaded gun.
The Emmy winner said, “Otherwise, you play Russian roulette. That has been the case for over 60 years in my career.” Furthermore, he explained that Alec isn’t used to doing a lot of action films. Braeden is certain that the property person must have assured Baldwin that there’s no bullet in here. He asked, “Why the hell would he otherwise take it? Are you nuts?”
