The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) guilt over what happened in Maryland is only going to get worse in the coming weeks. The longer Adam deceives Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope), the more horrible he’s going to feel about his betrayal with Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan).

However, Adam has lost Sally before and certainly doesn’t want to go through that again.

It’s rare for characters to willingly come clean about cheating secrets, so Adam seems poised to keep this news under wraps for as long as he possibly can.

Of course, that doesn’t mean it’ll be easy! Adam will inevitably start looking for new ways to cope with that growing guilt that we mentioned, so he might offer up an engagement ring soon.

It makes sense for Adam to pop the question and try to lock in a future with Sally.

In Adam’s mind, this may be a strategy to prove he can leave his feelings for Chelsea and that hot hookup they shared in the past.

Although Adam loves Sally, his marriage proposal might be about coping with his guilty conscience more than anything else.

Sally could be in for a shock once Adam makes a marriage offer and wonder if it’s too soon.

After all, Sally hesitated a bit before going along with Adam’s idea to move in with him.

That said, it’ll raise the stakes of this storyline if Adam and Sally get engaged, so that may be the path Y&R has in store for this couple.

An oblivious Sally may end up planning her wedding to Adam while he continues scrambling to keep a lid on his cheating.

Sadly, this isn’t a storyline that’s going to work out well for Sally.

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Sally’s going to find herself heartbroken and furious eventually, so it’s just a matter of time until her romance with Adam falls apart.
